Scratch Jr. Coding

Coding is the new literacy! With ScratchJr, young children can program their own interactive stories and games. In the process, they learn to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively on the computer. ScratchJr uses laptops and colorful blocks with pictures and doesn't require children to know reading.

Scratch Coding

Kids learn to create their own computer games and fun animations with SCRATCH using “drag and drop programing”. SCRATCH, developed by MIT, helps young kids to learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively - essential skills for life in the 21st century. We also have unique program that enable the kids to Control LEGO robots from SCRATCH! Color coded, intuitive drag and drop block programming, as well as sounds, backdrop images and drawings are used.

Modern Art with Acrylic Paints

Come join us as we explore and become inspired by modern master artists. This class is all about honing in on your own inner expressive energy. I will guide you through the basic steps of painting through color, line, brush strokes, composition and more . Let your imagination run free and wild. For beginners to advanced.

Clay Creations

Come join the fun as we create colorful, fun sculptures. Using Sculpty clay we will create whimsical characters that will be built during class and then bake in your  own oven at home. We will create robots, silly people, furry friends and other colorful, one of a kind characters. We will add googly eyes and silly whiskers to our fun figurines. Let your imagination run wild!! Younger children may need the help of an adult. A supply list will be e-mailed to you by the instructor.

Explorer Space

Presented by Education Explorers. In this fun, educational, hands-on class, children will explore the principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) through a series of space related STEAM projects. Children will learn about the Engineering Design process and build rubber power powered rockets. They will learn about the scientific principles of gravity by designing their very own "lunar lander vehicle" that will protect their astronauts while landing on the moon. Children will learn what is like to "eat like an astronaut" as they invent specific tools to help astronauts eat in outer space, and much much more!!**All Materials are provided by Education Explorers.

Number of participants: 16 total participants in each session. Players will be placed into smaller groups upon arrival.

Basketball skills training. All Participants will be required to bring their own basketball. There will be no sharing of equipment, and no competitive play/contact drills.Requirements: • All participants will be required to complete a health check survey at home prior to every class on TeamSnap App. Participants will either be cleared for participation or instructed to stay home. • Upon arrival, cleared participants will be subject to a temperature check before entering the gym. • Once in the gym, using the hand sanitizing units mounted in the gym, participants will sanitize their hands. • Participants will be instructed where to place their water bottles (socially distanced) • Cones and/or floor spots will be used to maintain social distancing throughout the class. • Participants will sanitize their hands upon completion of the class and prior to exiting. • All staff members will wear 3 layer masks. Participants must wear masks upon entering the building, but masks are not required inside the gym when training.

Learn to Fashion Design

This class will teach students how to sketch and illustrate creative fashion designs. Students will also learn how to think creatively like a real designer. Designing unique fashion items takes learning about new style details and combinations. By using the So You Design Decks, students will learn to create and sketch their UNIQUE designs! Materials purchase, which are included, So You Design Decks, Sketchbook, pencils and fashion figures is necessary for this class. They will be mailed to your child. This class is virtual.

What does a therapy dog do? How do they learn to do it? Learn all this and more as we go on the road with Miss Jasmine for a virtual field trip to meet with Casey and her therapy dogs at Country Haven Kennels

10/14: Dr. Dana Case Studies Class #1 

In this class, students are the veterinarians! They will examine case studies (from actual patients of beloved vet Dr. Dana) and determine diagnoses and course of action for these sick and injured patients at the veterinary hospital. This class is virtual.

Instrument Lessons

Now is a great time to improve at your instrument or learn how to play something new. Private music lessons offer comprehensive one-on-one music instruction in beginner to intermediate woodwinds, brass, strings, piano, percussion and guitar. Each 30-minute private lesson meets once a week for 10 weeks. After registering with GRCS, you must pick your time slot in sign up genius through the link at the end of the registration. Yoga for Kids

This yoga class is for students who are ready to dive into a traditional yoga practice. It is a great bridge between the creative -play yoga classes and an adult yoga studio practice. Many of the postures will be familiar from creative-play yoga, but as the kids mature physically and mentally they can engage with yoga on a deeper level. This introduction to yoga is a great way to lay the groundwork for a healthy and mindful lifestyle. Students will need a yoga mat. Instructor, Julie Finkel
