DAY CAMPS  

busy bee summer camp

Junior Rock Adventure camp for children entering grades K-1 in September Junior Rock Adventure is a camp that provides an all-inclusive high quality day camp experience in the convenience of a local Glen Rock setting with an emphasis on fun.  Designed for children entering grades K-1, the daily “routine” is anything but!  A wide variety of games, sports, arts and crafts and more keep the campers busy throughout the day and the summer.  Campers are bused to the Glen Rock Pool for water play 2 days a week, weather permitting.  In addition, there are 2 special weekly field trips to zoos, bowling and many other great places for summer.  Tuesdays are field days.  Each camper receives a camp T-shirt.  The camp coordinator is supported by high school and college student counselors in a low child/counselor ratio.  The staff members are CPR certified.  All costs, including trips, admissions, transportation, and on-site activities are included in our fee.  Each week has a different theme. 9 am – 4 pm 7 one week sessions with the exception to July 4th week June 30 - August 15, no camp on July 4th Location: Hamilton School $450.00/week, Week of June 30th is $360.00 We offer Before and After care, separate registration required.

Play Camp for Ages 3 and 4

Campers will participate in thematic activities each week including daily read alouds, crafts, playground time, water play, and sing-along songs. They will love the familiar daily routine including choices of inside and outside play.  Play Camp leadership is a certified teacher in Elementary Education, Rebecca Johnson, assisted by experienced counselors. Child must be 3 years old by Oct 1, 2024 Children must be toilet trained Weekly, June 30th- July 25th (no July 4) Location: Central School 9 am - 12:00 pm $300.00/week, Week of June 30th is $240.00.  No camp on July 4th. Summer Camp 

Stem Camp - Grades 1-6 Camp is led by the direction of Glen Rock certified teacher, Heather McDermott and certified teachers. Join us for an action packed morning of STEM exploration through hands-on investigations, coding, challenges, problem solving and collaborative learning.  Put on your thinking cap and get ready for your next challenge! There's a weekly field trip (grades 3-6 only).  Each week will have a different theme. Please bring a nut free lunch. Monday - Friday. 9:00 am-1:00 pm. Location: TBD July 14 - August 1. Math Enrichment Camp: July 7 - 11 and July 14-18, Grades 6-7

This course introduces students to middle school math (Pre-Algebra) and helps to provide a smooth transition. This is a good way to get a math "tune-up" for September's challenges! Topics include word problems, ratios, decimals, scale drawings, measuring circles, angles, triangles and prisms..these are just a few topics that will be covered. All sessions taught in small group classes by Kaitlyn Schamber who teaches Math in Glen Rock Middle School. Monday-Friday. 9:30 am - 11:30 am Location: TBD Cost: $240.00

Middle School Success: August 4 - August 8, Grade 6 - AM Session and PM Session 

The transition from elementary to middle school can be a daunting one. As September approaches, some students may feel the need for a refresher in a small group setting. This course offers a review of topics including: binder management, helpful homework tips and time management - reinforcing great strategies that will last a lifetime and are intended for students entering Grade 6. The instructor is Anthony Cece, GRMS teacher since 2001 with significant experience in learning strategies and study skills. Middle School Study Skills Essentials: August 4 - August 8, Grades 5 - 8

Successful middle school students require a strong foundation in executive functioning skills.  Study Skills Essentials provides students with the necessary tools that are imperative for success in middle school and beyond. Topics include organizational skills, time management, test taking skills, following directions and long-term planning.  In addition to acquiring these essential skills, students will learn valuable tips to maintain them throughout their educational careers. The instructor is Anthony Cece, a GRMS teacher since 2001 with significant experience in learning strategies and study skills. Art - Air - Dry Clay Camp! July 14th - July 25th, Grades 3 - 6

NEW Color Lab: Crayons, Science, and Fun! July 7 - July 11 Grades 1-3
Get ready for a week of creativity and discovery in this colorful STEAM-focused course! We will explore the science behind crayons and changing states of matter while engaging in hands-on activities that make learning about solids, liquids, and shapes super fun! We’ll dive into the process of how crayons are made and take part in melting crayons into exciting new shapes. Throughout the week, we’ll also enjoy reading stories that connect with the day’s theme and the shapes that we create. By the end of the week, campers will have a deeper understanding of physical changes and concepts of matter and will take home their very own custom crayon creations! Rock Sports Camp: June 30 - July 3 & July 7 - July 11, Grades 1-5 & 6-8

Under the direction of Jim Kurz, Glen Rock veteran coach and camp director, Rock Sports Camp introduces young players to a variety of sports including football, soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball and lacrosse. Games include dodgeball, kickball, Steal-the-Bacon, Soldiers and Medics, Dungeon, and more. Each week is not a duplicate of the other weeks. The staff – primarily experienced physical education teachers, coaches and current and former Glen Rock star athletes – provides a balance of cooperative activities and individual skill development. Campers enjoy a caring, supportive and fun environment where each child receives recognition for his/her contributions. Registration is limited; early enrollment is encouraged. Glen Rock Football Camp Grades 2-9 June 2, 9, 16, 23

The Glen Rock Football Camp is run under the direction of veteran coach Jim Kurz. Coach Kurz will also be assisted by other high school football coaches, along with current and former GRHS football players. The camp is designed for both experienced and inexperienced players and it will teach each player the fundamentals and techniques of the game. Campers will receive on field instruction and practice specific skills and drills that will help them succeed at their positions. This program is " non-contact" without pads. There will be 4 sessions on Monday's in June.  Dates for camp: June 2, 9, 16,23. Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm. Location: Glen Rock High School Turf Field Cost: $180.00  Grades 2 - 9. Rock Tennis Clinic: July 14-17 & July 21-24, Grades: 6 - 9

Join Varsity Tennis coach Bonnie Zimmermann and some talented players to learn and practice your tennis skills.  All levels are welcome to practice strokes and play games that will be fun and challenging.  Campers should wear sneakers and comfortable clothing and bring a refillable water bottle and snacks.  Tennis is a fun lifetime sport so let’s get started. GRCS GRLL Baseball Camp: July 21-July 24, Rain date 7/25 Grades 3-8, August 25-28th, Rain Date 8/29, Grades 3-8

Under the direction of Coach Steve Spitaleri.  Grades 3-8: Campers will focus on the basics of baseball as well, however, for the older kids, there will be more of an emphasis on position specific training techniques and the importance of being an unselfish team player. Campers will also be presented with the opportunity to learn these skills of the game from the Glen Rock High School coaching staff, current and former players.   Campers are expected to wear a baseball hat and their cleats everyday.  Campers should also bring their glove, bat, helmet, sunscreen, water or Gatorade, sneakers just in case and anything else they may need to participate. Glen Rock Basketball Academy Summer Basketball Camp for boys entering grades 4 thru 9 in September 2024. The camp is run by the GRHS Boys Basketball coaching staff. Player development through skill work and competitive games along with having a great time playing basketball is the top priority. Rock Track and Field: June 10, 11, 12 Grades 1 - 8

The camp is directed by Stacie Gallo, Track and Field coach. This program incorporates age appropriate activities including warm ups/ cool downs, yoga and stretching, training for races, relay events, and field events including throwing, jumping and hurdling led by high school coaches and athletes that will use their experience and knowledge to educate campers. Current 55 hurdles state champion attended the Track and Field camp. Campers must bring sneakers, water, sunblock, and a snack. Call the GRCS office for a sibling discount. Rock Softball Camp: June 26, 27, 30, July 1 grades 3-9

Coach Kelly Dowell along with GRHS softball coaches and varsity softball players, brings many years of teaching skill development and fundamentals.   The camp includes games, cooperative activities, fielding and hitting drills and a camper favorite...SLIP 'n SLIDE!  Campers should come prepared to play hard, learn a lot and have fun! MS Volleyball Camp: July 22 - July 24, Grades 5-8

Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 5-8. We have designed this camp to teach the most recent techniques used in volleyball. Our goal is to make each camper a successful player whether s/he is a first time or experienced player. We will teach campers individual skills, then link them together through small sided games. Each camper should improve with this training method. Our mission is for all campers to improve their skills and have a great experience with the game of volleyball. The camp is led by Coach Kasey Higgins (Glen Rock Middle School Girls Volleyball Coach). Campers should wear a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, and bring knee pads if they have them. TGA Golf Camp: July 7 - July 11 & July 21-25, Grades K-5

Come Tee it up with TGA at Golf Camp.  TGA provides an opportunity for your child to learn the lifelong sport of golf in a safe and fun environment.  Campers will develop basic golf skills as they learn all aspects of the game including: stance, swing, putting, rules, scoring, etiquette, sportsmanship and more.  Daily contests and games with prizes. Dance and Yoga Camp: July 21st - July 25th; grades 3-5

Each day campers will have classes in a variety of dance styles such as Hip Hop, Broadway Jazz, Lyrical and Improv. Dancers will learn the coolest moves and groves as we prepare for an end of camp showcase where parents and friends will be invited to watch our performance. The day will conclude with a themed yoga class that will incorporate breathing techniques, yoga postures, partner yoga, games and meditation. An art project or journaling activity will be incorporated into each yoga session.  This unique program encourages creativity and helps each child gain confidence in a fun and nurturing environment. Sewing Camp: June 30 - July 3 (9:00 am - 4:00 pm), July 7-11 (1:00pm-4:00pm) Grades 3-7
Sewing camp will have campers learning to sew and for those who know how to sew, they will be expanding their craft. Vivian Burns teaches classes in Glen Rock and surrounding communities. Campers will learn how to use a real sewing machine and create fabulous and fun projects starting with patch pillows, tote bags, etc. and over the course of just one week develop skills to create simple dresses, etc.. This camp will give campers the confidence to sew on a real sewing machine as well as understand and perform basic construction techniques. Machines and fabric are provided. Join us for a week of crafting, reading, and fun with your favorite doll! Bring your own American Girl doll or 18-inch doll (optional) and embark on a creative journey centered around books and hands-on crafts. Each day, we’ll read stories that align with a special theme, practice fluency by reading aloud to our dolls, and create projects inspired by the day’s theme to take home. This week-long adventure will build confidence in reading while sparking creativity as we design doll-sized accessories, clothes, and more. Whether you bring your doll or use one of ours, you’ll have a blast learning and creating alongside your mini best friend. By the end of the week, campers will improve their reading skills, enjoy imaginative play, and have a collection of adorable crafts for their dolls! Join us for word and initial bracelets, choker and mala necklaces, earrings and more. Students will have choices of letter beads, various types of shaped beads, crystals, gemstones, wood lava and more to create unique and beautiful unlimited projects. A fun and creative activity perfect for developing fine motor skills, planning, mindfulness and persistence. Join us for word and initial bracelets, choker and mala necklaces, earrings and more. Students will have choices of letter beads, various types of shaped beads, crystals, gemstones, wood lava and more to create unique and beautiful unlimited projects. A fun and creative activity perfect for developing fine motor skills, planning, mindfulness and persistence. Projects can be adjusted for different interests and ages and both boys and girls are welcome. Bring a nut free snack and water. Camp is led by Glen Rock teacher Rebecca Johnson.

woodwork camp

Woodworking Camp: July 14-18, Grades K - 5
Come join us this summer and have fun learning the basics of woodworking. Every day campers will start off by learning woodworking safety. They will also learn about the tools that are used and how the projects of the day are put together.  Campers will be doing light sanding with sandpaper, gluing and painting to make fun and exciting projects to bring home each day. Some projects will include a birdhouse, wooden games, animal figures, and much more. Supplies are included. Campers may bring a nut free snack and a drink. Grades K - 5,  9:00 am-12:00 pm. Monday-Friday. Location: TBD  Cost: 285.00
