Foundations of Robotics $300
The SPIKE Prime Robotics program is a set of three modules, each progressively building on the previous module. The program will introduce kids to robot movement and multiple sensors for distance, color, and force sensing. In this exciting first module, students will build their very own LEGO SPIKE Prime robot from scratch and learn the fundamentals of programming. They'll explore block-based coding to make their robot move forward, backward, and turn with precision. Through hands-on challenges, your child will practice measuring distances, calculating angles, and navigating obstacle courses. By week's end, they'll confidently program their robot to complete multi-step navigation tasks independently. Module 2 will cover distance and color sensors, and Module 3 includes force sensors and multi-sensor integration, preparing students for advanced robotics opportunities, including competitive robotics and high school robotics clubs. Our chess program instructs students on how to think logically and creatively while under the pressure of competition. Students will partake in chess strategy lessons, solve problems to improve their tactical ability and foresight, and hone their skills with supervised practice games. There will also be opportunities for teamwork to emphasize the power and importance of respecting and building upon the ideas of others. Our coaches all have many years of experience in working with kids of all ages and creating a fun and engaging atmosphere in which to teach chess.

This program will be highlighted by a combination of instruction and competition. During the instruction portion of the classes, coaches will work on developing passing, catching, running and defending skills through rotating drill stations.
